Shark nets are killing sharks on the coasts all over the world . They are killing about 500 to 700 sharks a year, which is a small percentage of all the sharks left in the world. But, if those years add up, that could be extinct sharks quickly. In this picture (left) there is a shark that has struggled so much, but has gotten himself into even more of a tangling mess than he started out with. Shark nets have killed sharks, which hurts the commercial fishing industries by making the seal population fire up. Some shark net manufacturers are saying that the only good shark there is a dead one. These "facts" (actually rumors) are making some people from the public reinforce this, which is also a bad problem for sharks' important lives. Since shark nets were installed (early/mid 1900's) people have been afraid of sharks and by putting in the shark nets, they have have posed a big problem for sharks; death.
In this picture (right) there is a shark that has gotten itself into a "choking matter" very quickly. On the left side of the picture, you can see the big square gaps which are putting out the problem of shark having there fins stuck. Sometimes they can even be so big, like in this picture, that it can get a shark's nose/snout stuck in the gap. Shark are being killed for no reason, which, as I said in the first paragraph could be added up to extinct sharks. Many shark nets are in the places that shark attacks mainly occur. For example in the coasts, gulfs, and bays. People say that sharks are not intended to kill sharks, but I say that they just don't care about the sharks being killed. They know that the shark nets are killing sharks, but aren't doing anything about it.
